Grand Valley State men's basketball junior center Eric Chess was named the GLIAC Player of the Week. Chess led the Lakers to two GLIAC wins this week, keeping the team's post-season hopes alive.

In the two games, Eric averaged 21.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and shot 65.2% from the field (15-for-23). In the Lakers 79-67 win over Lake Superior State, Chess recorded a team-high 19 points and 10 rebounds. In GVSU's 86-83 defeat of Saginaw Valley State, he tallied 24 points, shooting 10-for-13 from the field and was 4-for-4 from behind the three-point arc.
