Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State freshman center Callistus Eziukwu was named GLIAC Player of the Week for his efforts last week it was announced by the league office in Bay City, Mich. Monday. Eziukwu, who has earned the honor a league-high three times this season, averaged 21.3 points, 9.3 rebounds and 6.7 blocked shots in three GLIAC games. Eziukwu made 26-of-31 shots from the floor (.839), converted 12-of-18 free throws and dished out six assists.

Eziukwu enters Wednesday's game with Northwood game having made 20 consecutive field goals over a span of two and one-half games. Callistus recorded GVSU's first-ever triple-double Monday (Feb. 7) at Ferris State with 25 points, 12 rebounds and a GLIAC and school-record 13 blocked shots. Eziukwu's 62 blocked shots in GLIAC action is a single-season, league record, while his 104 blocked shots this season also moved him into third on the career list at GVSU. Eziukwu, who has nine double-doubles on the year, leads the team scoring (14.2), rebounding (8.4), blocked shots (104) and shooting percentage (74.6). He leads the nation in shooting percentage (74.6), and is second in blocked shots per game (4.4).

Grand Valley State is ranked seventh in the latest NCAA DII Great Lakes Regional rankings. The Lakers are 17-7 overall and 10-5 in GLIAC action.
