Gannon led 40-35 at the half an increased that lead to 56-43 eight minutes into the second half. However, the Lakers used an 11-3 run to cut the Gannon lead to 59-54 on a Jason Jamerson layup with 9:58 left in the game. Senior forward Marcus Wallace scored four points in the GVSU run. Gannon came right back with an 8-0 run of their own to build a 67-54 advantage and never led by less than nine points for the remainder of the game.
Marcus Wallace led four Lakers in double figures with 14 points. Freshman guard Jason Jamerson added 13 points and hit three triples, while freshman Callistus Eziukwu and sophomore Brian Arnold each chipped in 10 points. GVSU shot 50.0 percent from the floor (26-for-52), however Gannon hit a sizzling 54.0 percent from the floor (27-for-50) and converted 12-of-21 three-pointers. GU also hit 18-of-20 free throws in the game.
Grand Valley State will be at Northwood next Saturday (Jan. 29) for an 8 p.m. contest with the Timberwolves.
