Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State sophomore center Callistus Eziukwu was named GLIAC North Division Player of the Week it was announced Tuesday. Eziukwu led 20th-ranked Grand Valley State to a pair of GLIAC home wins last week. The Lakers opened with a 96-51 victory over Lake Superior State on Thursday, and followed with an 82-51 victory over Northern Michigan Saturday. Eziukwu averaged 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 blocked shots and 3.0 assists in the victories. In addition, Eziukwu converted 69.6 percent of his shots. Callistus tallied 16 points, on 8-of-9 shooting, six rebounds and six blocked shots versus Lake Superior State and then tallied 19 points, six rebounds, two assists, two blocked shots and two steals vs. Northern Michigan.

Grand Valley State moved up four spots to #20 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches poll. GVSU improved to 14-3 Monday night with a 75-43 victory at Upper Iowa. The Lakers will return to action on Monday, Jan. 23 versus Gannon in the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena.
