Allendale, Mich. - #3 Grand Valley State raced out to a 48-25 halftime lead and never looked back en route to a 96-50 victory over Kalamazoo College Tuesday (Nov. 20) night at the GVSU Arena. GVSU improves to 5-0 on the year, while Kalamazoo College falls to 0-3. GVSU will be at St. Joseph's (Ind.) College Saturday at 3 p.m.

GVSU jumped out to a 15-0 lead and held Kalamazoo College scoreless until Pat Clancy hit a jumper at the 15:12 mark of the first half. Nine Lakers reached the scoring column in the opening half as GVSU shot 52.9 percent from the floor (18-34) and 53.3 percent from three-point land (8-15). GVSU led 48-25 after 20 minutes. Grand Valley State opened the second half with a 15-3 run and led 66-28 after a pair of Jason Jamerson free throws five minutes into the second half. GVSU shot 64.3 percent from the floor (18-28) in the second half.

The Lakers placed 13 in the scoring column, including a career-high 17 points from sophomore guard David Thompson. Justin Ringler added 13 points, while Jason Jamerson was the only starter in double figures with 11 points. No Laker starter played more than 20 minutes. GVSU received 55 points from its bench.
