Grand Valley State picked up a 100-87 win over Sugar Mel's All Stars in their first exhibition game of the season. The Lakers will host Finlandia on Nov. 15 at 7:00 p.m. in their first regular season game.

The Lakers trailed 45-42 at the half, but outscored Sugar Mel's team, 58-42 in the second half to seal the win.

Sophomore Eric Voisin tallied a team-high 18 points in just 19 minutes of play. Senior Melvin White added 15 points and a team-high 11 rebounds, while junior Marcus Wallace recorded 15 points as well. Freshman Mike Hall had 11 points, sophomore Courtney James tallied 10 points and seven assists, and junior Eric Chess added 10 points and eight boards.
