Allendale, Mich. - Michigan Tech hit a pair of three-pointers with just under three minutes left in the game to break a 44-44 tie en route to a 56-48 victory over Grand Valley State in GLIAC tourney quarterfinal action. MTU advances to the GLIAC Tournament semifinals at Findlay Friday night.

MTU built a 42-30 lead over the Lakers with 10-0 and 8-0 second half runs. However, the Lakers forged a comeback with 10 straight point by freshman guard Jason Jamerson and a jumper by freshman center Callustus Eziukwu to tie the game at 44-44 with 4:55 remaining. Michigan Tech hit a pair of three-pointers over the next two minutes to take a 50-44 lead and foil the Lakers' comeback hopes.

Jamerson led GVSU with 14 points, while Eziukwu and Courtney James contributed 10 points each. GVSU shot just 41.3 percent from the floor and attempted just five free throws on the night.
