Marquette, Mich. - Grand Valley State (13-13, 8-10) dropped a key GLIAC road tilt Saturday (Feb. 22) at Northern Michigan (14-12, 10-8) by an 89-73 margin. With the loss, GVSU will travel back to Marquette for a GLIAC quarterfinal tilt next Sunday (Mar. 2) at 3 p.m. Northern Michigan claims second place in the GLIAC North, whle the Lakers finish third. GVSU will play a non-league game Wednesday (Feb. 26) at Findlay, with tipoff slated for 7:30 p.m.

Grand Valley State fell behind early and never regrouped as the Wildcats built a 45-29 lead at the half. NMU led by as many as 24 points in the second half. Grand Valley State, coming off a 42-40 victory over #1 Michigan Tech on Thursday, was unable to bring the scoring margin under 10 points in the final 20 minutes.

Sophomore Nate Hinkle led GVSU with 17 points, while freshman Jeff Grauzer chipped in 12 points. Freshmen Courtney James and Eric Voisin each scored nine for the Lakers.
