Laker Baseball Alumni:
The Lakers had another wonderful season in 2009 (45-16-1) and our fourth trip to the Division II World Series in the last seven years. We have been successful, in part, because of the support of our alumni. We want to continue to involve the alumni in not only supporting our program, but we also want you to be an active participant in the program. In that regard, there are two items of information I would like to share with you.
We have continued the improvement on our “baseball clubhouse” located directly behind the third base dugout. We the help of Scott and Randy VanDyken, the player’s have an area that they are proud of. We even have Direct TV on a flat screen in the upper area.
The University has been great about helping, too, painting this summer and putting down some newer carpeting.
The player’s lockers are still on the bottom level and we have had 19 baseball alums donate $300 to have their name, jersey number and years’ played on a plaque that is affixed to the front of a locker. A current player uses that locker and is made more aware of the history of Grand Valley Baseball.
We have 30 lockers, so there are still eleven that do not have a plaque on them. We are asking you to think about helping complete this project.
