Senior pitcher Grant Payton was named to the Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-American Second Team after posting a 12-1 record. Payton's 12 wins tied him for the Laker single-season record with fellow senior Jeremy Dow and former Laker pitcher Matt Rafeld ('04). Rafeld was the last Laker to be named an ABCA All-American following his 2004 campaign.

Payton finished his two-year career with a 21-6 record and 147 career strikeouts. The 21 career wins tied Payton with Drew Vinton ('96-'98) for the GVSU career wins record. Payton's 147 strikeouts places him sixth on the all-time strikeout list.
