Montgomery, Alabama - Grand Valley State senior LHP Matt Rafeld (Ashland, Ohio) was named Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association Second-Team All-American it was announced Monday (May 24) in Montgomery, Alabama.

Rafeld is 11-2 on the year, including a 9-0 mark in his last nine decisions. His 11 wins established a GVSU single-season record and his 19 career wins (19-3) rank third on the career chart. In addition, Rafeld set a GVSU single-season record for innings pitched (103.2). Matt has a 2.00 ERA in his last nine wins and has tallied 54 strikeouts to just six walks.

Grand Valley State is 2-0 in the NCAA DII World Series in Montgomery, Alabama after a 5-2 win over Bryant College in second-round action. GVSU is off until thursday (May 27) when it faces a yet to be determined opponent at 7:30 p.m.
