Live audio will be available from Steve Lloyd-Jones when the Laker baseball team takes the field on Sunday (May 16) in NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Tournament action beginning at 1 p.m. ET. #20 Grand Valley State will be taking on #11 Southern Indiana at that time in the first game of a potential two on the day to determine the regional champion. The live feed can be accessed by clicking here.
Live stats will also be available for the game on Southern Indiana's tournament information page, which can be accessed here.
Grand Valley State is one of three teams to advance to the NCAA National Tournament every year since 2002 (Central Missouri and Tampa). The Lakers have advanced to the NCAA DII World Series four times (2003, 2004, 2005 and 2009) since 2002 and have played in the Midwest Region title game six times in the last eight years. GVSU is 30-21 all-time in NCAA Tournament action. Grand Valley State dropped the opening game of the 2009 Midwest Regional, but regrouped and won four straight games to capture the Midwest Regional title and advance to the World Series in Cary, N.C.
The Lakers (37-14) began the tournament with a 6-3 win over Ashland on Thursday, then defeated Northern Kentucky 7-1 on Friday, and defeated host-school Southern Indiana 6-3 on Saturday.
The Screaming Eagles of USI (46-13) opened the tournament with a 9-6 victory over Indianapolis on Thursday before defeating Wayne State 12-10 on Friday. Saturday morning saw them drop the first game of the day to GVSU before rebounding for a 6-5 victory over Northern Kentucky in an elimination game Saturday night.
Due to the double elimination format of the tournament, Southern Indiana would have to beat the Lakers twice on Sunday, with the first game slated for a 1 p.m. ET start.
