BAY CITY, Mich. - The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference announced recently that senior outfielder Chris Rudenga (South Holland, Ill./Illiana Christian) has been named the GLIAC Player of the Week for his performance over the weekend against 16th-ranked Ashland.
Rudenga enjoyed the final home games of his career with some big performances against 16th-ranked Ashland. For the three-game series, Rudenga hit .545 (6-for-11), scored four runs, drove in five and hit his first home run of the season, in addition to stealing a base. His best game came in the series finale, when Rudenga went 2-for-4 with two runs and four RBI, including a three-run bomb to help lead the Lakers to a win.
It's the third time this season that a Laker has won the GLIAC Player of the Week award, including Rudenga winning it once earlier this season, back on March 19th. Junior Giancarlo Brugnoni also won the award this season, in the first week of the season on March 12th.
Rudenga and the rest of the Lakers will look to keep their momentum going this Wednesday (May 1), when GVSU travels to Midland, Mich. to take on Northwood in a doubleheader at 2 p.m.
