Allendale, Mich. - Senior center fielder Brandon McFarland was named the GLIAC Player of the Week it was announced by the GLIAC office in Bay City, Mich. McFarland led the Lakers on the week going 6-11 (.545 BA) with three runs scored, six RBI, and a home run. He went 4-5 with three runs scored and two RBI in a doubleheader split with Northwood (Apr. 20). McFarland posted 10 total bases last week, pushing his total to a team-high 65. He currently leads the Lakers in hits (45), doubles (7), triples (2), and RBI (38). McFarland is also a perfect 11-11 on the base paths. He ranks sixth in the conference with a .395 BA and second with 38 RBI.
Grand Valley State will entertain Wayne State this Saturday (April 30) and Sunday (May 1) in a key GLIAC Series. The Lakers are currently in second place in the GLIAC with a 12-6 mark, while Wayne State is 13-3 in GLIAC action.
