Grand Valley State dropped a 7-3 decision to Ashland in second round action of the NCAA DII North Central Regional being played at Grand Valley State. Grand Valley State will play the loser of the SIU-Edwardsville-Quincy Saturday at 10 a.m.

Ashland opened the game with three runs on four hits in the bottom of the first inning off starter Jeremy Dow. Dow settled down and held Ashland scoreless until the seventh when the Eagles scored their fourth run. GVSU, which managed just three hits off Ashland starter Cody Castle through the first seven innings, finally mounted a rally in the top of the eighth. GVSU put together three hits and a walk to push two runs across home plate. Ashland put the game away with three runs in the bottom of the eighth to claim the win. GVSU added a run in the top of the ninth for the final margin.

Jeremy Dow (12-1) took the loss, yielding four runs and five hits in six innings of work. SS Dan Skirka collected two hits for the Lakers. GVSU falls to 45-9 on the year.
