Erie. Pa. - Grand Valley State dropped a GLIAC doubleheader Sunday at Mercyhurst. Mercyhurst scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth of game one to claim a 6-3 win and concluded the day with a single run in the bottom of the seventh to defeat GVSU, 2-1, in game two. Grand Valley State will play Saginaw Valley State Thursday in the GLIAC Tournament at Wayne State Unviersity. Game times have yet to be determined.

GVSU scored single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to take a 3-2 lead, but Mercyhurst scored four in the bottom of the seventh to pick up the win. Brandon McFarland went 2-3 with two runs scored. Scott Smith, Scott Allen, Drew Wippich and Ryan Lyster each collected a hit. Lyster's hit was a solo HR. Game two was much of the same for the Lakers as C Nick Smith provided the only offense with a solo HR in the top of the second to tie the game 1-1. Mercyhurst scored an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh following a single and a sacrafice. Both runners were retired on an interference call, however, the umpires reversed the call and the runner on first was able to stay and was then sacraficed to second and scored on an error.
