Redshirt freshman Kevin Zak has a big day, going 3-for-4 in each game
2011: Appeared in 18 games with five starts...Finished the season 5-0 with a 3.22 ERA, four saves and 30 strikeouts in 50.1 IP...He held hitters to a .223 batting average and held right-handed hitters to a .205 average...Opponents hit .209 with runners on base...Threw a complete game shutout against Hillsdale (4/5) (7 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 6 K)...Had 11 appearances in which he did not allow an earned run.
Prior to GVSU: Spent two seasons at Kellogg Community College...Played for Eric Laskovy...Went 8-3 with a 3.14 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 60.1 innings pitched in 2010...Went 5-2 with a 2.39 ERA in 41.1 innings pitched in 2009 as he was named honorable mention All-MCCAA...Helped team to the 2009 MCCAA Tournament Championship and a JUCO World Series appearance...Team was the 2010 MCCAA League Champions and regional runners-up.
High School: Prepped at Dakota High School...Played for Ken Thoel...Tallied 51 strikeouts and a 1.82 ERA in 50 innings pitched as a senior as he was named honorable mention All-MAC.
