Brandon McFarland is entering his second year as a student assistant with the Lakers after a stellar two-year career with the team. McFarland's primary duties include the day-to-day operations of the program as well as assisting with the outfield defense.
2005: Appeared in 53 games, starting all but one of them in center field...Posted a .333 batting average, good for fourth on the squad...Led the Lakers with 14 doubles on the year...Placed second on the team with 49 RBI...Tallied 20 multi-hit games, including four games with three or more hits...Through the first 11 games of the 2005 season hit .524 and recorded a hit in 10 of the 11 contests...Paced the Lakers with three RBI in the Great Lakes Regional Championship game against Wisconsin-Parkside (5/21).
2004: Appeared in 59 games, starting 57 in center field...Set the single season record with 82 hits...Ranked first on the squad with a .389 average, .607 slugging percentage, and 128 total bases...Tallied 18 doubles on the year placing him second on the season record list...Recorded a team-high 15 game hitting streak to finish the season, going 27-53 (.509) with 17 runs scored and 18 RBI...Tallied 27 multiple hit games on the year, including seven games with three hits...Drove in a season-high five runs in the GLIAC Championship game against Ashland (5/8/04)...3-5 with four RBI at Findlay (3/8/04)...3-4 with a run and two RBI in the National Championship game against Delta State (5/29/04).
Prior To GVSU: Spent two years at Kankakee Community College...Hit .401 with 20 doubles, four triples, four HRs and was 25-25 in stolen bases en route to first-team all-region honors as a sophomore...Earned second-team all-region plaudits as a freshman after hitting .341 with 16 doubles, seven triples and three HRs.
High School: Prepped at Urbana High School...Played for Steve Waller...Earned all-conference, all-region and all-area plaudits.
