BAY CITY, Mich. - For the second time in three weeks, the pair of Jessica Janecke and Alan Peterson have swept the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Cross Country Athlete of the Week awards for their performances at this past weekend's Roy Griak Invite.
Janecke more than held her own against Division I competition at this past weekend's Roy Griak Invite, hosted by the University of Minnesota. The women's team, which entered the invite as the top-ranked Division II team in the USTFCCCA rankings, finished ninth in a field of 28 teams in the Gold race, 26 of which were Division I squads. Janecke led the way with a 29th-place finish in a time of 21:43 to pace all GLIAC runners at the meet.
Peterson was the Lakers' top finisher at this past weekend's Roy Griak Invite, hosted by the University of Minnesota. Peterson led GVSU with a 38th-place finish in a time of 25:08 and helped the Lakers to a 12th-place finish in the 24 team field of the Gold race, 21 of which were Division I teams. Peterson had the fastest time among all GLIAC participants at the invite.
The cross country teams are back in action against more Division I competition this weekend, when they compete in the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind. on Friday (Oct. 4).
