ALLENDALE, Mich. - This week Grand Valley State will be counting down to the Celebration of Women in Sport and Physical Activity that will take place on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 1 p.m. at the GVSU Alumni House.
Each day leading up to the event we will share a short profile of a woman or women who have helped with the advancement of women in physical activities and sports.
Monday: Former Grand Valley State rower Sarah Zelenka.
The week concludes with the launch of an endowed fund honoring Joan Boand and Patti Rowe. Those wishing to join former teammates, alumni, current students and others for an hor d’oeuvre reception that precedes a Laker women’s basketball game can visit GVSU.edu/womeninsports for more information.
The event will celebrate the accomplishments of Grand Valley's varsity athletic teams, club sport teams and students who have majored in Movement Science. Alumni, faculty and staff, and friends of GVSU are $10 per person while GVSU students and children under 13 are free. Tickets include admission into the women’s basketball game against Wayne State at 3 p.m.
