The current soccer facility was built in 2001 south of West Campus Drive, across the street from The Meadows Golf Course. The playing surface is natural grass and an exterior fence was added in 2002 to completely enclose the facility. The most recent addition includes an enclosed press box that was constructed in 2006. The current soccer field was host to the Laker soccer team's first home televised game during the 2010-2011 season. In 2012 GVSU added the south building, the soccer team now has access to home and visitor locker rooms, a weight training area and an athletic training room all adjacent to the soccer field.
Due to the increased success of the Laker soccer team in 2009, fans were able to come witness the Laker soccer team host the Regional Championships at home in 2009 and again 2010. The Laker soccer team won the NCAA DII Soccer Championship in back-to-back years.
